i'v had this problem on renegade for about 2 months, i'v had the game for 3 1/2, i'm running on a windows 98 i have a voodoo 3dfx 8.1, my computers max colors range is 32 bit, my lowest is 16 color, my resolution max is 1032 (i think), i don't know my lowest, my computer is on 32 bit on a 1024, my problem is that on game start up the game does not run, i'v had no hardware/software upgrades for my computer in a year that i know of, i recently got GMax before it started along with a sound change for the game, i hope you respond, anyone...

PlanetCNC.com | Problems with the Voodoo cards
Unfortunately, not much can be done about the problems with the Voodoo cards, as these cards have no valid DirectX 8 supported drivers. You can try using a 3rd party driver (in fact, some drivers such as Goat and X-3DFX have been reported to fix the problem) but they don't work every time.
Note: Some people have reported success in fixing the wall glitching problem on Voodoo cards by setting the texture value to 32-bit in the Video menu of the Renegade Configuration utility.
If you're still having problems, you might also want to try to (while in game) switch out of the game by using ALT+TAB then switch back in. This has solved the problem for some users. [back to top]

Sanada78 | It won't work with 2000 or XP so it's pratically useless now.

That's actually not true. I had a Voodoo 3 PCI card in my 800Mhz system (running 2000) up until about 2 weeks ago (upgraded card in newer computer, that card replaced the Voodoo 3). It worked great! Windows 2000 (and XP) detected it and I hardly had any problems playing games on it. The only game that gave me fits was Renegade, but even that worked with the stock Windows 2000 Microsoft drivers. It didn't work with any of the 3rd party drivers I found.
