Not all rap sucks, and trust me not all forms of other music is good either. You can find pathetic excuses for talent in every genre of music. Good rap? Yes, there is such a thing, and if you don't think so, you have a very narrow opinion or closed mind.
Talented rap? Outkast.. Yes, everyone has heard "Hey, ya" but they bring a since of originality to the music. They have a style and a intellectual value other than "Get in my ride ho! My name is Fat Joe! YO!".. Beastie Boys, anyone who can make a CD that ends with four white guys rapin' to Tibetian monks and including a song rapin' to a flute and a violin is also talented.
Let's not forget about Rage Against the Machine. The only Rage Rap band that has any brains. It's not Linkin Barf, or Lame Trisket. It's food for thought that makes you want to revolt.. Or at least this is my take on the whole thing, but I will agree most rap is crap, but I'm not so blind as to say all.

Right, it's just my opinion. I like just about all forms of music, my favorite however is dark industrial, and progressive metal. My favorite bands being, Tool, Stabbing Westward, Sublime, Rancid, The Misfits.. and the list is just really really large and boring to read.
I just don't really exclude any kind of music unless I hear everything it has to offer. That's all I'm trying to get across really. Anyway, I'm done with this thread, it's like a religious debate.

About the original post...I don't know.
I don't think rap sucks. I think rap is the same as all other kinds of music in that some of it is good and some of it isn't. Although you may not consider it to actually be music.
