That's too bad about LOTR, it really didn't deserve the recognition it got.

I personally thought ROTK was a brilliant movie - Peter Jackson did a brilliant job on all levels. But I think Revolutions should have won more Oscars because it was cool.
Definitely cooler than Titanic, at least.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Revolutions wasn't even nominated for best special effects, which was rubish. And how the hell did LOTR win best screenplay ... barely any of it was original work and it was entirely based off the books.

I think the LOTR movies are overrated, ROTK was good but I don't think it deserved 11 categories. The books are much better than the movies, even at over 3 hrs long per movie they only tell at most 2/3rds of the story.
While we are on the topic of movies who else has seen The Passion of the Christ, now that was a well done movie.

It got those Oscars for the achievements.
It won for Adapted Screenplay not original that went to Lost in Translation
Just getting it to the screen was a helluva an acomplishment
Revolutions was a better looking movie but it was tedious and really really convoluted and left too many questions.

Oh, well I guess it deserves it for Adapted Screenplay.
I understood Revolutions fine, I really thought it pretty much capped the plot off well and didn't leave many questions. The Academy doesn't like those kinds of movies anyway, but its pure BS that it wasn't at the very least nominated for special effects - whether or not you like the movie it had kickass CG.
