Have you ever asked yourself why do you exist? Why is there something instead of nothing? Existance is sort of meaning less, life goes on and on endlessly with out much purpose, but we still . Why do you think we exist? We have no real purpose so ecentualy we shouldn't exist acording to nature but we do exist. I would like to hear your opinions about the ultumate question what is the meaning of life.

I think the purpose of nature is just to consume itself and rebuild itself constantly...only now humans have changed enough to be the only creatures to ever understand this on earth...however, I think that our minds are too small to comprehend all this and we shouldn't bother to try and break our skulls trying to understand it.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Read something that's inerrant, that should tell you. But it's one specific book, well...collection of books, that is inerrant. You can find it at about EVERY book store...it's widely known, in many different languages. People have died trying to spread the book. It is also the most controversial book ever written. Has at least 40 different authors. See if you can guess what book I'm talking about, if you can figure it out...you get a prize!

The Prize: the knowledge of a book that is inerrant and explains the aspects of life and existance...oh...and you can go buy it too.

The answer is below:

Bible...now go read it.

whoa.

I think this thread is just some useless spam (no offence to anyone) but this just sounds like utter BS.

My only answer to this is:
Why not?

When you learn to accept that no one has a pre determined destiny than the meaning of life can be anything you want it to be

Have you ever asked yourself why do you exist?

There is a bigger question that you have to answer first:

Do we exist?

I watched a serious documentary a couple of months ago where real astrophysicists were discussing amongst other things time travel and whether we really exist.

In simplistic terms, how do we know we are not just a simulation like in the Matrix?

All of us live in the universe a place which is infinit and control'd by laws called physics. One of these laws are time the one thing all of us must live by. Have u ever seen time fly by at speeds that seem different from what ur watch tells u? Time will never stop so by deffinition time is emortal. Emortal means with out begining or end by this also defines what dosent exist. This contradicts it self and so do many other things in our world. Some times when i am bored i try to comprehend my own existance but sometimes i have this large weird ass feeling which happens when i try to think that i might not really have control over my own actions, like i have allready done this before and just reliving this experience. Just think of it you might actualy not be living, u could just be having some kind of other entity like a virus taking over some one else's life or some kind of matrix thing. As i think everything we do is trying to find the answer to the question WHY, the one question we will never have the answer to. If we live on something that will never happen why do we even live?

Concerning time travel...

I read a hella cool article in an important science magazine, where it says the faster you go, the further ahead in time you get. There's this one Russian whos been in the space station for 2 years going at 17,500 mph, and he's 1/50th of a second ahead of everyone else in time. I think the only question anyone needs to ask themselves is this:

"Why the hell don't I have more money?"

Oh, and I do believe God was created by man as a means of justifying what he can't comprehend. I don't think the human brain can encompass the concept of infinity or the universe, and ancient people created God. And then, bible things became so popular with everyone back in the day thaat many religious sayings became imprinted in our language, such as "Why the hell don't I..." Now, the bible is a very good book with a lot of important lessons in it. But I don't think god is real.

If God isn't real and the Bible isn't real, why has everything been so accurate. All the prophecies are coming true in front of our very eyes. I'm not trying to be a preacher or anything but read Revelations. Read Isiah. Read Proverbs and Psalms. A lot of the stuff from there is coming true. It's just a matter of time.

I think it's best to enjoy what you have while you have it. Nothing lasts forever. We won't figure out the meaning to all of this, but we can try to work with it.

God does exist. that's for sure I think. well, at least something like god. because "something" had to create space, earth, water, sand, even the stars etc. and it had to create itself though. I'm realy sure there has to be something.

Most of those are interpreted so vaguely that it's impossible for them *not* to come true one way or another.

It’s hard to tell if there are any answers in the bible. Have you ever read it, and many other scripture? Most people know what they know from Sunday school and the few days at church that their parents dragged them too.

Do I believe in god? Yes and no. I lost my faith when I was young. I am trying to find it again and am having some success. The first thing I did was throw away my bible and start over. I forgot all the things id been taught and threw away all the preconceptions, I don’t think god would want me to hate any of his creations. Gay-straight-colored-welsh- . If god is out there in some shape or form I will find him, or oddly enough, her. And then I will ask.

Does god love me, and does he care. Yesterday I watched my dog die. He was old and loved and that morning his heart failed. His name was max and he was a 10 year old Belgium sheepdog. Death didn’t come quickly for him, yes I know he was just a dog, but he was also my friend. For 3 hours he gasped for one last breath, all I could do was hold him and hope that he wasn’t in pain. He fought hard. And when it was all over, I wondered why it had happened. I looked at his body and I realized something, he wasn’t there any more. What was on the floor was what was left behind. I’ve seen death before, close up and personal, but somehow the death of this dumb dog affected me more then any other. I think it was because I know I will be going the same way. The doctors never told me I would end up lieing in some bed gasping. And when it is my time to go, because we all came here with our return tickets punched, will god be merciful and let me go in peace. Who knows, I guess ill find out latter.

The meaning of life. There isn’t one. I can tell you how it ends, you spend enough time in old peoples homes and in hospitals. You begin to realize. Lots of people die alone. They die cold and damaged, a body so ravaged by arthritis the old woman has to lie on a water bed and cant even sit up. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, does that help with Parkinson’s? There are people out there who live in a living hell, a damaged mind can not be fixed, and very few people are willing to talk to old an man who doesn’t know where his wife is and can’t recognize their sons. It gets worse though, its hard to be there when the old man wakes up and he knows where he is and for a few moments knows what’s happened to him. I can’t deal with that.

- The most fucked up thing about all of this, if you live long enough you will become one of these poor souls. After all every one dies, but before that baring injury or illness, you have to get old. I wonder some times if god loves these people. Or if he created life to let it suffer.

Is he out there at all, or did he lose interest when we murdered his son? He hasn’t shown up here in a while, not to any religion.

Life is sacred. And it’s cheap. The meaning of life? Live it and find out. And don’t believe everything people tell you. In the end religious words are just words.
