anyone have this error before? I get it when running a wol server. It still lets me host the server, but the friggin ping shows up as 999  Confused in the wol game listing?

any suggestions? or is something else causing the ridiculous high ping on wol? on gspy ping is usually like 50-90

I get it all the time, actually everytime. Pings are fine for people ingame though. I think its a firewall.

Do you allow the FDS to auto detect the server bandwith, or did you calculate it yourself and enter it manually? Also, are you behind a router?

I have treid both, auto detect, and manually enter a number.
I am directly connected to the internet, the machine has a static ip addres.

I think 1 or 2 other servers has this problem as well.

check and see if the IP shown on the main hosting screen within ren accurately matches the one you see using ipconfig.

they are the same.
If they would have been differnt, it would not have even shown up on WOL. After all even though the ping is insanely high, it is still being pinged...

For some reason the server isn't responding to the ping. I used to have the problem with an old ISP. The only thing I can think of is use a sniffer and see what port the request is coming in on and see if your ISP is blocking that port.

I have this problem with renegade and generals. It tries to use my itnernal ip as my external and i get 996ping a lot. Sometimes i don't but when i unpluged my router i can fix it :/ It's my router i think because i have the problem on both computers. Is there anyway i can fix it for renegade? For generals i've tried everything :/

well I don't have a router, the ip address is the satitc address used to access my machine... this is lame.

Works fine on gsa and shows the correct ping.. Evil or Very Mad

Do you have a software firewall?
