Alright, my mother was working on her computer this morning when she said it just froze on her, she could move the mouse, but when she went to open something or whatever, the computer just did nothing, so she rebooted it and found that it was asking her to insert a system disk and hit enter. I immediately feared the worst, and unfortunately I was right, the hard disk is toasted... The disk is drawing power, but the little servos or whatever run it are toast. The disk contains a lot of important buisness information, and a lot of pictures (my mother is a photographer, so it has over 2 GBs of pictures alone)

I've got some backups, but she has lost of huge ton of important information with the disk, I was wondering if anyone knows about some sort of company somewhere that specializes in repairing hard disks without damaging any of the data on the disk itself?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

Russell

Ideally I think this is not the place to get an accurate answer. Try this site, I go there when I have problems and got a quick reply.

Good luck.

There is a company that has saved data from comps in fires and even from a comp under the amazon.

Wow, that drivesavers site is really hard to believe! You wouldn't think it possible to recover the data from computers that screwed up! Shocked

it's possible, but hard disk recovery doesn't come in cheap
