I'm new to modding on renegade, and I'm trying to replace the automatic pistol skin with one of my own design. I already made the in gmax, but I don't know how to save it so it will work in the game. I know that you save it with the same name as the normal renegade file, but there seems to be more to it than that. Could someone give me some advice on this? Thanks.

Your skinning? You should open up Photoshop, not gmax.

If your modeling. Then thats another story, go visit www.renhelp.co.uk.

Thanks for the help, and I've read enough posts to realize that photoshop is where you skin things, but after reading those tutorials you directed me to, I remembered I never downloaded the renegade game pack for gmax, and I can't find it on the internet. If anyone has this, could they give me a link? Thanks

Mad AHH i found the public tools, but when I downloaded it there was a corrupt installationb file or something. I to make one post right after another, but if anyone knows about this problem (getting an I/O error caused by a corrupt download) could they give me a solution?

Re-download it. When you run the installation thing, a new program called "RenX". Open that up, then you can export as w3d, the renegade model file.

Thanks but the problem isn't that I can't find the file to download, it's that the installer says the file is corrupt, and I got the .zip file from westwood.com. Would it be possible to upload a copy of the installed files to your website?

Yeah, I tried to download it again, and here is the exact error message when I use the installer:

An I/O error occured while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file.

And westwood.com or ea.com seemed pretty reluctant to have any help about it on their website Mad

Happened to me aswell, the westwood FTP kept cutting me off before it was complete.

Try a download manager like DAP or GetRight so you can resume it.

Hm....the download didn't seem to cut off, and it said "Download Complete" twice in a row, so unless it doesn't tell you that the download cut off, i don't think that happened to me. Although, I may be mistaken. J4s[p], could you just load the file onto your website as a favor? If you did I would be most grateful. Also, could you direct me to your website?
