This idea stemmed from something I attempted last year. I was trying to re-create the old GDI/Nod pins that Westwood had sold at one point during the late 90s, since I had never been able to buy a pair for myself. The idea fizzled out due to my annoyance with the prospect of shipping individual pin sets to over a hundred different people. Since I have an extensive library of C&C 3D models, I looked into Shapeways as a viable place to set up shop and start selling some of the designs I've created. They handle all of the work that I don't feel like doing (shipping, payment handling, etc) and all I do is create the work for sale.

I'm starting with the GDI logo. I've created a pendant out of it. You'll need your own necklace chain, but those aren't hard to get. I'm also looking into developing keychains, bracelets, and desk trinkets in addition to recreating the GDI/Nod pin set.
I'll get a Nod pendant up soon. There's a lot of adjustments I need to make to that particular model to make it print-worthy. It's also possible to print out scale models of the C&C items I've built, so you can have a pretty accurate rendition of any of your favorite buildings or vehicles. I might even look into having my Mammoth Tank turned into a printable model with textures applied. Let me know what you think, and if there's any kind of model you'd like to see turned into a print.

Are you going to make RA1 themed pendents? I see an allied logo there. Could make more money if you had both sides of the community down.

I think I'll be getting the large versions of both the GDI and Nod logos! One for each motorcycle key!

It's all part of the big illusion that we perpetuate on ourselves and in turn is perpetuated upon us. When we believe, we engage the illusion. When we stop believing we shatter the illusion and shatter ourselves in the process. Because we are, part of it.

Hey ACK, that's kind of the exact same idea I am having in mind for a couple of months now. Every now and then I wanted to practice 3d-modeling with Cinema 4D. The main goal would be to just get better, but the byproduct would be to 3d-print a whole miniture cnc base. I just started with the GDI war factory. But to be honest, I have no idea how to get my crappy beginner's Cinema 4D files converted properly to make them printable on shapeways ^^ besides the war factory having too many details for a 2,5 inch model, perhaps ... probably ... most definitely ... i guess.
