Howdy,
my cousin installed TDF on his laptop and all the text in the game is missing. Did a repair install and it did not fix it. The TDF disc is brand new and laptop definitely above the requirements.
I was wondering if anyone here had any idea on how to fix this.
Thanks
Yuri also doesn't work, ingame menu text also not showing up.

By default in Windows 8 the kernel state is saved to disk on shutdown and reloaded on the next boot to speed up loading times, but this could mean that whatever strange thing normally happens on a reboot to fix the menu text isn't happening due to the kernel not being reloaded from scratch.

To confirm/bust this I tried it out on my system which hibernates the kernel state.
RESULT
Saving the kernel state does NOT block the issue from being solved with a restart.
A restart still fixes it even when saving the kernel state.
With other words, saving the kernel state or not has no influence.

That's good to know, I was just theorycrafting anyway since it worked fine for me in Windows 8 without any rebooting required. I had the bug once, but that was years ago on an XP machine and the old reboot trick worked.
