hi ive just reinstalled ren on this computer and installed the 4.0 patch and now i cant open renegade evey time i try to play it ren config pops up i click ok and then goes black screen then it pops up saying renegade has stoped working can anyone help?

When the configuration screen pops up choose your graphics card from the dropdown selection at the top, even if it already looks like it's selected. Clicking on it from the dropdown causes it to save the value properly when you close the config tool.
This sort of thing often happens if you change your graphics card.
