I know this has probably been talked about before, but why is the system to create a new nick super hard?
At the moment people have to register over at strike-team, assign serial numbers, then create their accounts.
If people are buying renegade, which is probably happening(Renegade is now on Origin, and I'v received 1 PM from someone asking how to register already), even in super small numbers, how the balls are they ever going to know to do that.
I know it says to register at strike-team or w/e it says on login, but that message is easily missed, and new people often press that useless, "New Account" button.
Would it be possible for TT/Xwis/whoever to change what the New Account button does and direct to where it should, or bring up a webpage/dialog giving detailed instructions.

Even so the instructions there are pretty weak

I just checked, it still works.
Basicly if you login with a nickname that hasnt been used before it gets automaticly created (and bound to your serial, i guess).
Nickname cant be longer than 12 characters and cant start with a number. Also password has to be exactly 8 characters long afaik.
If they'd just put those instructions in HTML format on the new account button link, that would save people a lot of trouble...

I can't even use Wol anymore .. all of my nicknames got deleted for some reason .. I know the passwords to all of them and not a single one will let me login.

all your nicknames are linked to your serial now and all ahve the same password
just register at striketeam then log into the the xwis control panel, you'll able to get the password to all your nicknames then.

Are you sure about this? Because I can use my nicknames created on my stock Ren serial also on the client that runs TFD.

You can login to any Renegade game using any nick registered to any valid Renegade serial in the Control Panel.
You might even be able to do it cross game (IE Renegade nick on RA2 or maybe Nox) but I have never tested that (yet  ).

Affirmative.
Nicks for TS, RA2, Yuri's and Rene are all linked.
So, if you create a nick for RA2 - you'll be able to use it in Rene too - as long as its not already in use.
