EDIT::
I restarted computer and installed beta 3 this time. Now, it goes like it's going to start Renegade, but then crashes. Crashdump attached.
Toggle SpoilerAs the title says, I get a box with a red circle X in it saying "Renegade failed to start."
My process of installing Renegade:
Install with TFD.
Install 4.0.
Update via UAC Launcher.
I've tried installing Beta 3, and I got the same error. I did Beta 1 then Beta 2 and still the same thing.

I took a look at that crashdump and something wierd is going on, you dont seem to have the correct set of files for Beta 3.
I need you to post a zip file containing all the .dll files and .exe files in your Renegade folder so I can verify whats going on.

I came back over seas and was gonna play, but my buddies PC here is not running this at all ever since that patch came out. I got the same problem the 1st poster had, and I tried running admin, made sure files weren't hidden etc, and it still is refusing to work. Any ideas?

This.
The first time I installed beta1, this happened. The 'command.txt' file in the Renegade/client folder was set to hidden, and wasn't being read. I believe it was stealtheye that helped me with this. I had the same problem this time with folders/files being set to hidden.
Not sure if this is a problem with 4.0, or my computer. But as stated, the problem has been fixed.

That's an old type crashdump, dated "Sunday, August 21, 2011". Please upload the dump(s) from <my documents>/Renegade/Client/debug instead.

Make sure to enable "Show hidden files" or similar in the windows explorer folder options if you did not do that already, it's not clear to me from your post whether you did that already.

According to the asset_errors file, it didn't load a single thing. The debug file that you mentioned does not exist in either directory (that I can see).
Everything is definantly visible, please view the screen shots and tell me if things are missing. I have reinstalled this 4 times already, and I get the same exact results...

I don't see a "game2.exe" in your renegade directory. Is some software (e.g. anti-virus, folder premissions, etc.) blocking the installer from writing game2.exe to your Renegade folder? Can you try the following:
Copy "c:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade" to "C:\Renegade".
Re-install TT beta 3.
If that works, please try copying "c:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade" (the broken install) to "c:\Program Files\Renegade" and reinstall beta 3 there. This helps us to debug what is wrong and fix it. If that works, try the same for
"c:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Renegade"
"c:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade2". Let me know what locations do and don't work.
The & and (tm) *might* be confusing the installer, although I think it worked before. If none of it works, try removing the "c:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade" folder, reinstall Renegade, and then TT beta 3.

Game2.exe disappeared with Rengaurd when I removed it and installed Scripts 4.0. It worked fine after that, but the patch made it not work, I will try what you suggested and post back the results.

Sorry for the late reply, I had alot of work related things come up. I could not get the thing to update properly at all, so I went re-downloaded it and installed it after a clean install of Renegade. It only seemed to work if I restarted my PC after I install Renegade to install the scripts. If I do it all at once, it would not work, why it does that, I don't know. However I came across another problem, and I think this one is pretty mainstream to everyone right now, link is here:
