Hey there
I just installed Renegade on my new Comp with Windows 7 and it has a weird problem. It runs absolutely fluid but every 30 seconds or so it stands still for like .5 to 1 second. It's realy annoying. I know I had the same issue on my last comp running Vista and i figured it out to solve it... But as it is with Software problems you should write em down because you can't remember it the next time oO
Anyone of you got a quick fix? Tried all the compatibilty modes already...

Press f8, then type 'fps' and hit enter. You will get some extra info in the top right corner. Does FPS drop when u stutter?

Clearly a bottleneck. This can be about anything. My on board sound card was the bottle neck on a previous laptop! I bought one of those usb soundcards for 10 € and problem solved!

Bumping this topic because I started playing Renegade after a long break. I still get this problem even now with 4.0 and my new GeForce 560 SLI setup.
It's very distracting and I often get killed because of it. Especially when fighting other infantry or if I need to hit an enemy tank in a quick split second before I blow up.
I have gone through many different components on this computer. In fact, from the original computer that I had, none of the parts remain at all. New mobo with onboard sound. New graphics cards. New ram. New CPU (in fact I just upgraded to a quad core last month). New PSU. New HDDs...
If there is some component that is causing a bottle neck... I have no idea what that component could be.
As far as defragging goes, I defrag almost every week, so that isn't it.

I have been using it for quite a long time, but I think this problem dates back to even before I started using it.

I used Avast for 6months a while ago and yeah, it is pretty good. Until you discover that as soon as it comes into contact with a virus/trojan it freaks out and let's itself get buttfucked by the virus/trojan and leaves your system wide open. I'd really switch to bitdefender or nod32.

It's always stopped those things for me... It aborts connections and prevents me from opening corrupt files/folders. For the oddball chance that something does get through, I use Malwarebytes to scan and eliminate whatever threat there is.
