i'll summarize the entire topic using 3 quotes

nikki6ixx wrote on Wed, 21 September 2011 18:59

And there are tons of threads about certain individuals, and communities, that did involve a lot of lies and false accusations, yet they were not locked.

danpaul88 wrote on Thu, 22 September 2011 03:35

Based on the forum rules I would speculate that the thread in question broke the following rule;

Quote:

Harassment/Racism/Flaming: Harassment of other members, racism, or any hate speech in general will not be tolerated. Moderators will be the judge of what is intolerable, and what is not. Also, please refrain from flaming other members. If you really must, keep it inside of the Hot Issues forum.

MUDKIPS wrote on Wed, 21 September 2011 15:48

those threads dont involve friends of crimson

which brings us to

grant89uk wrote on Thu, 22 September 2011 12:18

But mudkips point remains the same. You cant lock a post for breaking the rules because it goes against your personal agenda then allow other rule breakers to continue breaking the rules purely because it doesnt concern you.

uh, yes you can? she owns the place
you act as if she has to follow rules or some shit, she can literally do whatever the fuck she wants
if it were Jelly or Wilo being bashed and not one of her n00bstories staff members she values the topic may not have come to her attention at all

nikki6ixx wrote on Thu, 22 September 2011 13:32

Quote:

Above all, I demand, yes DEMAND, that the people who we select to be moderators (actually we call them "n00b kickers") be treated with respect that they richly deserve. They sacrifice a bit of their own game time and fun to help keep things running smoothly and I will NOT tolerate them being treated like crap by the likes of you. Period.

That's a rule that should only pertain to the NS forums. Not here. Defamation is one thing, but actually bringing up a viewpoint, backed with evidence, and supported by a large group of people, is another.

she can run this place however she wants, choosing to follow rules at her own discretion
it doesn't have to be fair; she owns the place
don't try to hold her to the forum rules when she's king of the forums

nikki6ixx, you should be some sort of internet lawyer or something... maybe a superhero.

You always manage to keep a cool level head, but at the same time you obviously beat the opposing idea.

And liquid, you're completely right... The idea of it is not fair to the entire community, but that is how it is. That will never change. There will always be an obvious bias in NS favor here (anyone remember a certain word filter?).

And no, I AM NOT TRYING TO DIG THAT SHIT UP. It is just one small, but perfect example. I know I mentioned somewhere before, that this place needs a different person running it, someone not directly tied to 1 server, like she is to NS as the owner/founder/head bitch.

If she could run this place w/o the bias, it would be different... but until then this place shouldn't be the Renegade "Public" Forums.

At this rate it might as well be redirected to a sub-forum on the NS website.

Actually, once again I am not mad, just stating a simple belief... One that I am pretty sure a lot of others share, whether they want to come out and say it or not... It doesn't even matter much anymore, not like changing shit now is gonna save this place.

That would be like giving a piece of well-done steak CPR when the waiter brings it to your table. Big Ups

I get along with people fine, so long as they aren't rejects who promised things that they couldn't
deliver on, or forum trolls who contribute nothing except to bloat the fragile egos of the same
rejects I despise.

also, when ns takes 4.0, unban DrasticDR/Gonzalez

mainly because jarhead banned him without a shred of evidence (apart from the evidence that jarhead just sucked as a sniper and hated getting pwned by him all the time)

DrasticDR will never be unbanned from NS and never allowed on anything I can keep him from accessing. He lost this privilege after harassing me by calling my business repeatedly.

Who the fuck is CCGuy?

You want to know why there is a "bias"? Because I don't have the time or inclination to read every single post or every single thread on these forums. That's why there are other moderators. If someone from Atomix or st0rm contacts me about the threads and wants them locked, then I will make a judgement on it.

In this case, the admin from n00bstories contacted me and I did something about it. It happened to be a quick and painless process since it happens to be me.

There is never going to be someone else running these forums unless I decide to give them to someone else. I have been running them for 9 years in February. I was given the blessing from Westwood Studios, and I own the domain(s).

If there isn't sufficient moderation going on, you could also propose adding more moderators and suggest people to do so. It's a community forum, sometimes it takes effort from the community, not just me, to make sure everything is being handled.

!vote ACK for moderator.

On a serious note, the likes of danpaul would be a good addition to the existing moderators.

It's overzealous, biased, and self-interested moderation that this thread is about.

Meh... Load of shit doesn't even matter anyways... By some fucking miracle this game is still alive, and people still gather here as a whole community. Sooner or later it will eventually die. Then you will have to find some other way to feel almighty on the internet... lol.

As long as you admit there is a obvious bias...

Not like adding more mods to these forums will do any good, they can't stop you from being a power tripping bitch.

The first part in red:

You could fool a lot of people in this community... Some people might not say it, because sadly you are in control of the biggest forum for them to gather at.

The second part in yellow:

I imagine most people have a life outside this place, but you sure find your way back here real fast when it involves the reputation of you and your personal community.

But if you are saying you don't have sufficient time to properly run this place, maybe you should consider passing it on to someone else. Instead of just delegating, then coming back and using your authority to protect people that are part of your personal community. (Yes, I already know this will never happen, just saying)

I wouldn't actually call this place neglected either, I personally think Gozy does a wonderful job, and he is not bias (from what I can tell at least). I figure most would agree with that. Without him I think this forum would have just went to spam and shit a long time ago.

Yes, most people have a life outside of the online world, I believe Gozy even has a kid, right? At least he still finds time to keep these forums somewhat in line, you only seem to come on when it involves you and your personal community/image.

There is a huge difference between paying the bills and actually running a place. I thought you would have known that, as I recall you ran your own business in real life...

Yea, there is a huge difference, but then there are some similarities as well.
