I have yet to see a problem with this from anyone else.
Whenever I'm ingame, and the map I'm currently on finishes, and the nextmap is a map that I don't have, whenever I start downloading, it loads the load screen once, then loads it again, then I crash.
But, if I minimize Ren, wait until the map loads, and then maximize Ren, it works. But, I've tried minimizing/mazimizing about 3 times now, and every time I've done that, I've crashed within 5 minutes of the map.
Now, whenever I go back in Ren, go to the server, it downloads the map and I can play with no problems. So, there's no problems there. It's just annoying that I crash everytime I try and download the map the first time.

The solution would be to download the uber map pack, then you wont have to download any maps at all!

Can you please upload the crashdump? It's located in My Documents/Renegade/Client/Debug and it should be the recentmost or two recentmost .dmp files.
Can you also please record a video of this behavior? Maybe I can notice more details than what you're describing.

Yes, whenever I hop onto Ren tonight, I'll get a video and upload the crashdump for you.
Also, @Azazel: yeah, I had in mind to do that. But, being the lazy person I am, I'd rather have the server do it for me whenever I end up needing the maps
