So I used to have Renegade on my computer, when some random errors occured. So I reinstalled it, and it will just show me the setup. The game doesn't do anything. Once I click "Ok", the setup stops, but the game doesn't start. I've reinstalled it 9 times, so I don't think I need to reinstall it.

Delete the following registry key;
HKLM\Software\Westwood\Renegade
(Or, on 64 bit, HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Westwood\Renegade)
Probably some dodgy settings in there preventing it from starting up. Wrong Graphics hardware IDs are generally troublesome.
Then try again.

If that doesn't work try re-installing with the following steps:
Download: http://renegade.dmehosting.com/CD's/GameCD.iso
Then either open it with a program like Daemon Tools Lite or burn it to a CD or DVD with something like Imgburn.
Be sure to install the game with a legit serial.
Then install the Renegade 1.037 patch. You can download it from ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/updates/ or here (if you have the English version of the game)
Note: If you have The First Decade, this is unneccesary.
And install Core Patch 2:
CP2: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=18892&start=0&rid=4 882
Then run this installer for the custom scripts.dll 3.4.4, it's software that improves various functions of the game that's very recommended by the Renegade community.
Do not install the program called 'RenGuard' it seems to cause your program to be more likely to crash. If you have issues with not being able to log in into WOL or the WOL server list being blank/empty, try following this guide:
http://www.renegadewiki.com/index.php/Registering_a_nick_on_XWIS
You can also run a portable program called RenList, it allows you to connect to servers listed on the GSA list (all the major servers are listed on both WOL and GSA), joining WOL servers with this program is broken though. You can download it from here.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Open the Daemon Tools Lite program, a blue-coloured icon should appear to the right bottom of the screen, double click on it.
Click on the button I highlighted with my mouse pointer in this screenshot:

Then add that .iso file (I used 'MarioKartWii.iso' as an example here) with the dialog that pops up. Then make sure the ISO you just added is highlighted in blue in the 'Image Catalog' column and click on the button I highlighted with my mouse pointer in this screenshot:

It should now have 'mounted' the .ISO file, it means you can access the file as if it were a CD-ROM inserted into your disc drive. Open up 'Computer' and it should show something like this, but it'll show the Renegade icon instead of Windows' drive icon if you did it correctly:

Then you can just double click the drive icon and install the game as if you inserted the CD-ROM.

So I tried to do all of that, but the install crashed for the scripts.dll, so I left that out. When I start, the screen doesn't show. I hear the music, but don't see anything.

I believe I already have Directx 9.0, but scripts.dll was failing to install to the Renegade directory. It says "An internal error has occured. Please refer to DXerror log or Directxlog in your windows folder." After I try to install 3.4.4. but I can't seem to find that in my windows folder.
