EDIT: here's the link: https://survey.vt.edu/survey/entry.jsp?id=1304357142724

Hey everyone,

I'm conducting like, a legit university survey right now about online gaming, and was wondering if it's ok to post the link to it here to get more participation.

I'm not making any money off of it and it should take 5 - 10 minutes to complete.

My team and I are going to start working on a new, free multiplayer game and are just seeing what's popular out there right now.

so... can I post the link? Big Grin

thanks!

That's a pretty poorly made poll, I played A Path Beyond for 12 hours in one day a few days ago. There's no "Competitiveness" option in the "What aspect of online games is most important to you?" question (though there's an open field).

lol, thanks very much to whoever took the survey, and thanks for letting me post

got some more numbers. Thumbs Up

I'm trying to get away from making renegade maps.. I spent too much time on them and I couldn't stop lol

We were looking to make some sort of space-based game, but absolutely nobody in the poll yet has played Eve online, nor do they care for space games... unsurprisingly the most popular games are FPS

I would like a space game but so far have not found something I like (I admit I have not looked well). For a good space game, it should be RPG style with a massive universe, good map system with zones, NPCs, many stations (for example, bandit stations with the bad guys), and so on.

Have you heard of Infinity? It's a WIP...have been following them for a while now though it is taking a lot of time. Great demo here:

This is what I would play. Full free-form space flight with custom craft, and most importantly seemless space flight (ability to go from space-to-planet without load times).

Have you tried X3: Terran Conflict? That's a pretty good space game...

Yeah that looks interesting... thing I didnt like about Eve was it was too complex and took too long to get stuff, and you never get to fly around freely (computer always auto piolets to where you wanna go)

plus if you spent like 2 months getting a cool ship and go into like 0 space someone could wipe you out in like 1 shot..

I almost shouted 'Sins of a Solar Empire' but then I realized you probably weren't referring to RTS's.
Still, it has most if not all the elements you listed there.
