My friends all pitched in and got me a PS3 with COD;Black Ops for my birthday. Extremely nice of them!
I'm not a fan of controllers, so I purhased the Eagle Eye converter so I could use a keyboard and mouse, thinking it would feel more comfortable and a bit more of a PC feel.
I've played the zombie mode a few times and played about 14 maps online.
I probably wont be playing it much more, not unless I get a call to jump on with some friends. It's shit. You frag, you frag again, you frag a couple more times. You die. You respawn. Why the fuck do people like this shit so much?
Hell yes, I played for 99999 hours and now have all upgrades to all weapons! zomg!1!11!!
I just spent an hour playing renegade, the ps3 is now retired after a week to a media centre as I have it set up to my NAS drive wirelessly (although even that is pretty gay as I had to map it out via my PC, lucky it's always on anyway...).

I agree with reborn, and that was my problem with Counter Strike back in the day as well. COD is basically just fast paced killing and dying. It takes next to no effort for you to kill someone or for someone to kill you and it's extremely repetitive. Not to mention that waiting for respawn time is annoying if you get killed early in the round.
Mind you, I haven't played Black Ops, but I've played a lot of Modern Warfare 1 and 2, and I hear Black Ops is not much different.

A base can be destroyed in a hundred different ways, I'm not sure if you can argue that COD is much more dynamic than Renegade.

organized matches on cod were always fun.
I hate it on the console though... It's harder to play and you're up against kids all day long.
It's true the game isn't by any means groundbreaking, but it's still fun as fuck to play on the PC, online. I was a big codfag back in the day, took it as seriously as I took renegade. Good times were had.

Thing about being good at ren is in a large game you can't make much of a difference other than point whoring.
Large game of cod and being good = you win or lose the game for your team.
plus there is a lot of money to be made with professional cod vs ren ermmmm

I dont remember who you are, M0FiR3, and I dont remember playing with you. But I'm def not surprised I did that bad, hehe. I've gotten better but I still hardly ever play console games. Ultra nerd, ya know.
Also I have all of the CODs up until CoD4 on pc, who needs the xbox!

COD is a different form of gaming. COD5 was the first I played and I learned to appreciate it (on PC, of course, I have no consoles). Then I got CODBO and played it a few times... But I was very dissapointed: it felt exactly the same as COD5. So I stopped playing it very quickly.

i heard professional ren players get some pretty sweet cash...
i played mw2 for a bit, was fun while it lasted. Playing by myself got boring fast, but playing with afew people i know through renegade is really fun.
played with a few RL friends to, but most of them have ps3's, ive got a 360....
you deal with the same crap there as you do on ren tho..... thers alot of people that think their gods gift to cod, but their just whiny shits..... theres people like that on ren so meh.
it is fun tho yelling all sorts of slurs over the mic at people you dont know and are never going to see even in the game again.... that part is what makes it fun to chill out. Sounds crass, but its pretty funny to sit there with a beer, just chillin, i find thats easier to do on cod than ren

from personal experience, these types of games are actually not that bad as it is claimed. A lot of the factors for someone liking it comes down to how good they are (the better you are, the more inclined you will be keep playing) and if playing alongside friends. The resulting "thrill" keeps repetitive boredom away.
I still play the original Doom (the first ever game I played back in 1994) multiplayer; the only game that has made me laugh out loud more is Renegade. It seems very pointless but incredibly funny when you are kicking ass lol. Here's someone's video; I can play this "shit" all day long:

The same applies for every deathmatch type game. When I initially bough UT3 for trying out RenX, I played a lot of CTF games. I was surprised I wasn't outright sucking and stealing flags lol that I kept playing. Of course, eventually I kinda got bored of it though I still have it just in case.
