hello

I just installed the free copy of GameSpy
hoping it would have some servers hosting fan maps
but I can't get GameSpy to show me anything but adds

and I don't feel much like buying something that either no one is using or I just don't know how to use

I haven't even seen that option

before we go to much bother here are there any servers in gamespy using fan maps ?

cause jelly is all I need in the old maps

I just read in another forum that it wont work unless I subscribe

can somone please tell me if it is worth subscribeing to ?
how dose there list compait to the normall one in REN
are there good servers not listed in REN
are they playing any fan maps ?

GameSpy Arcade is now unsupported by IGN Corp. Do me a favour, open up GameSpy Arcade\Services on whatever drive you've installed it on, and see if a folder called 'ccrenegade' is there and reply here whether or not is is.

I did a search of the gamespy parent folder (and all sub folders)
for "ccrenegade" found nothing

I looked around in there by hand to and find nothing

im guessing this meens even if I where to buy gamespy it would not work with renegade ?

prefribly one with 100-150 people playing on fan maps at any given time

Download this and place it in the Services folder within GameSpy Arcade and see if it works.

As for the fan map server being that heavily populated, it's not going to happen. They're very empty now a days.

anyway I just tried that
near as I can tell it made no difference
when I click servers I get this

GamSpy seems to have so many dif sections I wonder if I have just got it all wrong

could you give me a snapshot of what you get ?
id like to see if there is anything there worth going after to biginwith

doesn't have to be servers with 150 people
even 5 people playing on fan maps would be something
rate now when I join a fan map server I'm on it alone and the thing wont even start

Well you don't seem to have selected Renegade as the game you want to see the servers for... it's a long time since I last used GSA but from what I can tell you have selected some game called 'Arena' instead of Renegade.

What you've done is selected the GameSpy Arena section, which used to be used for competitive games. The thing you're looking for is the 'My Games' tab usually located on the left hand side.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend using GameSpy Arcade due to it being out-dated, unsupported and no longer used by the general game community.

Pretty much, I recommend using Westwood Online or use a program like RenList or Renegade Resurrection.

thought I found Resurrection
but when done installing it started up rengaurd
which just did abnunch of complaining about a new HUD I installed


never mind that
I tried running REN and something new came up got some testing to do now

think I found 2 servers playing fan maps
but they are complaining about my copy of REN to
when I started tinkering with HUDS I saved a clean copy of REn so ill just copy it again and install Resurrection in it
should get me past any complaints
