I got Win7 and it have never crashed upon me, well i got bluescreen one time, but thats cause i filled Ren with alot of stuff XD but that dosnt matter.
What i did was install it like you normaly do, and then i ran the EXE file, game.exe.
Also im the only user on this PC, might need admin or something gl hunting

the weird thing about the situation is that Rene opens the first loading screen but before the screen resolution changes and goes to a full screen mode the cd stops spinning and it drops out of the "processes" under windows task manger and nothing ever happens

Go to the game.exe file, and turn on compatibility mode, then have it set for XP.

I dont see why he needs to run it in XP when i, who also got Win7 dont need it? But also 64bit

Oh NOES! xD
It works fine on my 32-bit W7. I dont even run compatibility modus on it (also not as admin but i disabled UAC xD)
Did you try the No-CD crack?
EDIT: Technically i would call it a No-CD patch as its shipped with TFD
