Hey, like the title says, I feel like banging my head against a wall sometimes when I'm competing against good players.

The best ping I've ever had on Ren is ~300; and every ~2-5 minutes wihout fail, I get a nice little ~3 second lag spike. This causes every player or vehicle on my screen to continue in the direction they were last running or moving for around 3 seconds; and I can damage them in this time (this has been the cause for many cheating claims made against me).

It's frustrating hugging a wall one second, then teleporting ten meters out from behind it the next to get raped. The same happens with vehicles and base defenses, My vech teleports and get owned by them or other players.

I notice my KBPS drops and thus, ping increases.

The two obvious causes of this that I can point out is my location (australia) and I use a Wireless Router. Sneaky

I hate lag killing people, and I hate being lag killed. I also hate how my opponent almost has a half a second headstart on me due to latency.

What can I do to improve my connection? (aside from putting shit loads of money into it)

If you want net specs just ask and I'll post em if it helps.

cheers for reading

The obvious is to get rid of the wireless and simply try-out a cable. Thats much easier than trying to improve your wlan set up.

You will always have lag on most servers you play on (due to your location) but what you describe is most likely related to your wlan.

Yeah, your location can't be adjusted, but try out a wired LAN cable instead.

You honestly think moving to another country for the sake of a better connection to Renegade servers is a good suggestion? When CarrierII was talking about location he meant in terms of country, in this case Australia, which is always going to have a poor ping to online services in Europe and America, which is where almost all Renegade servers are hosted.

The spikes aren't normal. A constant high ping would be much more bearable. People get used to high pings, not to sudden spikes.

Are you the only computer on your network? Is your wireless connection secure? Did you try with a cable?

But ive hear people from Australia complain about connections to many games, but if you use wireless, that is most likely the issue

It might be a good idea to move out of Australia so you can visit a website which might contain a breast or two, or a drop of blood, or even foul language. Sarcasm

Censorship. Thumbs Up
