Ok, so my mouse has a side button that I had set to V for freeaim. I have even had the mouse working on this laptop before, but now it doesn't work in Renegade. It still works for everything else, like if I click the side button it will type "V".

I have tried redownloading the drivers and configuration from microsoft's website, but nothing changes... Any ideas?

I might be wrong, but I don't think Renegade recognizes other mouse button presses altogether.

You have to assign the mouse button as the "middle" button and then assign free aim to the middle button, assigning the mouse to keyboard buttons won't work for Renegade, unless you want one of your mouse buttons to type a letter.

You guys must have missed what I said.

I have used this mouse with this setup for Renegade on 3 pcs now, my desktop, my old laptop, and I have had it on this laptop before aswell. But now for some reason it is not wanting to work on this laptop...

I did have it type a letter, I click the side button and it types "V".

Freeaim is still set to 'V', right? Perhaps someone changed it.

Yea my freeaim is still set to "V", I tried changing both my mouse button and freeaim to other keys... the button works just fine outside of Renegade, but does nothing ingame.

What operating system are you running on? Vista or 7? Are you running Renegade as admin? If yes, try running it without administrator privileges. Programs that are run under with administrative privileges with UAC enabled (like it should be...) are protected from programs running as a standard user, and the software that actually outputs the "V" might be running as a standard user.

I am running Vista. I am pretty sure Renegade is running as admin... can't rememver why, but I thought it needed to be. I will go check on all of this and reply back.

Yea it was that UAC crap... I know there is some use for it, but it is too annoying. I wouldn't click on stuff if I didn't want to open it... It was turned off on this laptop before, but I think I remember it getting turned back on about a week ago for some odd reason.

The extra mouse button works fine again, thanks for the help. Satisfied
