Serious question I have been wondering of asking for a long time.
Does anyone here over the course of playing Renegade feel that it made other games you played irrelevant?
After playing Renegade for about a year (I got it in Jan 2007), I felt that it was too difficult to put it away AND get on with another game.
Over the course of the past 3 years, I bought many games including TFD, C&C 3, KW, RA3 just for the single player campaigns but was unable to complete them because I would quit halfway and jump to a Ren server. The only game in the past 3 years I managed to finish the Single Player and actually play multiplayer online was Red Faction...which btw is eerily similar to Ren.
I thought personally the final blow for my Renegading will come with the release of Renegade X but I was surprised that for me, even that did not have an effect on me personally. I think for me, there is some combination of the older graphics, the physics, and teambased gameplay that is making it very hard to play another game.
I want to know how many of you feel the same way or had similar experience over the course of playing Renegade.
edit: added poll

Renegade is by far superior. It's got action, it's got strategy, it's got gameplay, the setting is fucking awesome, etc. etc. you all know why it's an amazing game that eclipses other games simply because it can do so much where others (no matter how good they are) can do so little.

Since I started playing Renegade I have not bought many other games. I bought some Sims games, because I used to love those, and I also bought CoD4... I played CoD for 2 weeks online, didn't even try the single player. Then I was like screw this game, way to unpredictable with all the assholes randomly throwing grenades or that martydom shit... plus it didn't have the community feel. When you play Renegade you recognize people from forums, IRC, and maybe other servers, I like that, makes it friendlier (most times). And of course the gameplay and style of Renegade, just awesome.
Oh yea, almost forgot about making skins, Renegade is like a interactive coloring book. Keeps it fresh and fun.

It did really sideline my games. I have been playing for close to 8 years now, and although for the past two I haven't been that active of a Renegade player, I still play more Ren than anything else.
I used to just get into games for about two weeks and then come back to Renegade, but now I barely play games, and when I do, it is Renegade. Probably because C&C mode will always be superior to deathmatch and CTF.

Nope, I was kinda between games when the Demo came out. Played rene non-stop, then mixed with Planetside, then BF2, then Cod4 and the l4d series. Really played only renegade for a long time.

Not really. I go between games- I play one game religiously for a month or so, then another, then another, etc... usually I come back to them, though, since I don't have a huge selection.
I still haunt the community, though

I just noticed this. Is it safe to assume you cheat at StarCraft, too? Cheats for StarCraft are pretty easy to get and use, so if you would go through the effort of cheating in Renegade, I think it's pretty safe to assume you cheat in StarCraft (Especially since there's more to gain there).
If you do, can I have your IP to add to my banlist?

dover you silly fellow, isn't his ip dynamic?
also one game at a time, so this week it'll be renegade, next week it's this game, or that game

I don't know. It's no reason not to try.
