If you have a Windows Vista DVD you can use robocopy from the command line at the beginning of the installer to clone a disk. See this tutorial: http://geekswithblogs.net/lorint/archive/2006/12/07/100596.aspx

I would assume Windows 7 DVDs work too, but I have only ever done it with a Vista DVD in the past.

EWD: Surely if he is cloning from one to the other (especially if booting from a DVD) the source disk with the OS on could NOT get corrupted as it's only being read, not written...

If you had a linux computer near by you could use "dd" package to copy each byte from a HD to another HD.

Yes Ubuntu can have DD as well.

In SSH;

dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=4096

sda = HD you want to backup
sdb = HD you want to move everything to.

sda and sdb will most likely be different when you connect the HD's. Make sure you have another HD the exact same size as the one you are wanting to backup. Or you can copy "sda" to your current HD as a iso.

dd if=/dev/sda of=/oldhd.iso bs=2048
