I reinstalled renegade restarted the computer deleted all the files
and repeated and still no luck.... (not exactly in that order...)
Any idea why no sounds are working this includes music, cut scenes,
and all other audio files. any ideas why it wont work?

Is the windows volume control for Reneagde at 0 or muted (or both?). Is the volume turned up? Does sound work in other programs (Esp other games)?

Change to DirectSound3D. If you're running Vista or W7 you cannot use any of the HAL sound devices either.
People have also had issues in the past after installed programs like Total Recorder. If you installed or uninstalled something around the same time as the issue appeared, it might be a good idea to investigate that.
