When you encounter someone you do not know, you should always assume that their whole family is dead including pets (just assume house fire) that way you do not make any comments related to someone who may have actually died... if you actually get to know them personally and start meeting their family just assume these people were survivors, someone is always dead.

That is quite a sad view on life
I dont asume people died but i just dont make that kind of comments
