Most of it pretty much sucks. Nirvana was damn overrated, honestly.

A few decent bands have come out of the 90's, but they didn't get too popular until 2000+. Really, people who say the 90's were good, are retarded. They clearly don't remember boy bands, the utter death of decent rock, the emergance of hip hop, rap rising then dying almost immediately, emo music emerging, and so on.

Agreed.

I actually listen to a lot of post-2000 rock. I know it's not as good as it could be, but I'm not a fan of the old school rock that a lot of people are into nowadays, as I always thought they sounded bland and uninteresting.

These days I'm listening to Avenged Sevenfold, ^^, Rise Against, Taproot, Alexisonfire, Sevendust, etc. But a few years ago I was listening to Linkin Park, Sum 41, Jimmy Eat World, and some others.

And yeah I don't listen to rap or hip hop either, though it seems that's all that's on the radio and parties these days.

These band r awesome m8 Smile

Yeah. I'm loving Breaking Benjamin's new album "Dear Agony", and I'm very patiently awaiting the new Avenged Sevenfold, Sevendust, Sum 41, Linkin Park, and (I think) Taproot albums that should all be coming out early 2010.

As for the 90s, Foo Fighters were alright. I liked a few of their songs, but as some mentioned earlier, 90s rock and grunge all really sounded similar. Let's not forget that the 90s were dominated by boy bands like the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, 98 degrees, Hanson (oh god I hate them), some "girl bands" like the Spice Girls and Destiny's Child (I think they were 90s?), and others like Britney Spears and Christina Aguleira.

Overall the 90s were a pretty sad period in music history. Otherwise though it was a pretty good decade.

Doublepost, but had to post this link in reply...

Call me a faggot, but I'd rather have this music back instead of this crap they have now...

Believe me I am tempted.

But I do agree, most of the music today is shit, and has no originality whatsoever.

i dont like grunge (the style), but some bands made a few good songs.

i started in the early 80`s with metal.. judas priest, running wild, accept, iron maiden, axel rudi pell, helloween and so on...

there are so many genres of metal. some of them sounds weird (imo) and some are really great (again imo).
i like epic-metal, melodic-metal, power-metal and symphonic metal. and most of them came in the 90`s. like: rhapsody (rhapsody of fire, now), freedom call, stratovarius, sabaton, kamelot, heavenly nightwish, epica, sirenia, within temptation, rammstein and many more...

every music genre has his good and bad sides, its more the acceptance of the listener and how he handle it.
i.e.: a rapper dont like metal (mostly). but what is if a metalband mix rap and metal? like faith no more. they have a few songs wich are metal but have some rap elements in it.
or the opposite: p. diddy.. many metallers liked his song: come with me (godzilla soundtrack).

as i started with renegade music videos, i had a big problem: wich music should i use for my vids? i decided to make the vids with metal and trance. i have many vid watchers who dont like metal, but they still watch my vids, and many of them got another
opinion about metal.
metal isnt only a sick musicversion, where ppls only headbang and sounds like they puke over the microphone. you only have to listen the right style.

greetz telly ^^

Yeah radio sucks these days... the last good alt. rock station closed up and went to talk radio (FUCK YOU RUSH LIMBAUGH), so yeah. Not that I'm really complaining that much; my ancient Beemer's radio doesn't work.

For some reason, whenever I hear music that I don't like, I get tired. Is that normal?

Listening to it since I was a very young kid. Wink

All the kiddies seem to love the hip-hop today, but if they all just bought themselves a copy of both Licensed to Ill and Straight Outta Compton they'd realize that what's on the radio today is garbage.

And who doesnt have that cd, and has a penis?

Also Fort Minor. Kick ass Hip-hop. Mike Shinoda from LP mixed, wrote, and produced it.

I used to be a huge Linkin Park fan, but there's too much space between their albums to stick with them. Meteora was great, but let's just say Minutes to Midnight wasn't worth the four year wait, and almost three years later they're just coming out with a "concept album".

Linkin Park were cool, until you actually listened to what their songs were about.

This.

I kinda liked their style, but their lyrics were awful.

Still, in comparison to most emo music nowadays, it's still much higher quality and the vocals aren't nearly as bad... which is pretty sad.

The songs were okay, but way too mainstream, and they lacked a lot of what made them popular in the first place. With exception to Bleed it Out (which I didn't like), they seemed to have completely abandoned their nu-metal/rap mix.

The last two music albums I liked that were fairly recent would be Rise Against's "Appeal to Reason" and Breaking Benjamin's "Dear Agony". I'm still waiting on a lot of new albums in the coming months, but it looks like rock is at a low these days.

I happen to think that much of the music that Linkin Park makes isn't particularly "emo."

I think a lot of it is reverse psychological. And it's actually very clever if you want to talk revenue.

I remember that a lot of people used to comment on Linkin Park songs (particularly drunk "hipster" females) saying that their songs reflected their own life.

I don't think that the music that Linkin Park makes is directly reflective of any of the members of the band, to a degree, but rather they are trying to connect to the audience saying "you're problems are real, so you aren't alone."

I see their music as very motivational in a psychological sort of way.

It is true that it is largely based on taste, but one could still discuss the skills of certain bands or band members, or how most music today sounds the same Big Ups
