Most of it pretty much sucks. Nirvana was damn overrated, honestly.

A few decent bands have come out of the 90's, but they didn't get too popular until 2000+. Really, people who say the 90's were good, are retarded. They clearly don't remember boy bands, the utter death of decent rock, the emergance of hip hop, rap rising then dying almost immediately, emo music emerging, and so on.

If you're referring to my post, I said the emergence of it.

The rise and death of rap is referring to when rap was semi-decent. Then it turned into stupid bullshit and combined with hip hop.

All the kiddies seem to love the hip-hop today, but if they all just bought themselves a copy of both Licensed to Ill and Straight Outta Compton they'd realize that what's on the radio today is garbage.

Most 90s rap is unlistenable nowadays as the production is so bad, but what would you know about that...

I said most of 90s grunge were good, not the boys bands and dance shit.

Music nowadays is retarded especially in radio or anything made with sample by computer.

I've heard music from the 90's and liked it, but I haven't heard much from the period.

What's wrong with using a computer as an instrument? There are no good or bad genres, there's just good music. Coldplay makes good music, but so does Kanye West.

Agreed.

I actually listen to a lot of post-2000 rock. I know it's not as good as it could be, but I'm not a fan of the old school rock that a lot of people are into nowadays, as I always thought they sounded bland and uninteresting.

These days I'm listening to Avenged Sevenfold, Break Benjamin, Rise Against, Taproot, Alexisonfire, Sevendust, etc. But a few years ago I was listening to Linkin Park, Sum 41, Jimmy Eat World, and some others.

And yeah I don't listen to rap or hip hop either, though it seems that's all that's on the radio and parties these days.

Coldplay falls between "generic" and "generic". I guess they're not BAD either (although Kanye West fucking sucks), but they're not really good.

Spice Girls were still better than Coldplay, for the most part. But then again, I only really remember one Spice Girls song..

Well, they first have to learn to buy the music they already listen to before they learn to buy music they've never heard of.

Nobody mentioned Foo Fighters or Audioslave yet?

I was very sad to hear Audioslave split, although nothing can stop Chris Cornell (besides maybe an overdose).

Yeah. I'm loving Breaking Benjamin's new album "Dear Agony", and I'm very patiently awaiting the new Avenged Sevenfold, Sevendust, Sum 41, Linkin Park, and (I think) Taproot albums that should all be coming out early 2010.

As for the 90s, Foo Fighters were alright. I liked a few of their songs, but as some mentioned earlier, 90s rock and grunge all really sounded similar. Let's not forget that the 90s were dominated by boy bands like the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, 98 degrees, Hanson (oh god I hate them), some "girl bands" like the Spice Girls and Destiny's Child (I think they were 90s?), and others like Britney Spears and Christina Aguleira.

Overall the 90s were a pretty sad period in music history. Otherwise though it was a pretty good decade.
