I think it is illegal due to the pharmaceutical companies and other such companies involved in the drug/acohol business.

i basically see drugs as being like religion. if an adult wants to do it, they shouldn't be told they can't... but if it makes you do bad things, you aren't strong enough to handle it. and most importantly, kids ought to be protected from it.

Marijuana was originally outlawed in the United States due to pressure from Cotton and other industries that were rivaled by hemp production. They employed the use of racist propaganda to convince people it was bad.
Today, it's illegal to keep the "war on drugs" running smoothly, and to keep private prisons full of non-violent offenders, so companies can get more of those delicious subsidy dollars. Who are some of the biggest supporters of the "war on drugs"? Prison companies.
This documentary provides a pretty good look at the situation.
TL;DR: it's all about money.

I personally see nothing wrong with allowing Weed to be Legalized, I don't think I will ever do it, might try it, but won't make it a habit. I know quite a number of people who smoke weed. I don't see them causing all those car accidents that drunks do.

Kinda off topic, but this expression always made me lol since its usage is different here in the US (it generally means "get angry" or the like).
It makes me picture a guy walking into a bar, sitting down, and just getting really angry for no real reason.

First, I want to point out that I don't smoke or drink. If you take that to mean anything about me, you can ignore the rest of my post. (If you weren't going to already)
Honestly, I don't think anything that can't be a direct cause of infringing on the rights of someone else has grounds to be banned regardless of how bad or unhealthy whatever it may be.
Or, to put it another way... if you smoked some marijuana, are you violating the rights of someone else? No? Then why is it banned?
I would like to point out, however, that I'm talking in principle. Obviously there are dangers of having everyone legally stoned out of there minds 24/7... but then that's where usage laws would have to come into play.

No. Because, unlike just merely using a substance on your own, when you are put in control of a machine with diminished mental capacity, you become a threat to the safety of others. It isn't about your rights anymore it's about the rights of everyone else around you.
The way that you need to look at the law is not how it effects you, but how you effect those around you in respect to the law.
For example, the Constitution isn't giving you, specifically the right to free speech. It is rather telling you to tolerate the free speech of others. If you tolerate my rights and I tolerate your rights, then everyone gets tolerated and everyone wins.
However people don't look at it that way. Instead, they look at the law and see how it benefits them and how they can exploit what they are given to either A] gain more or B] put down others. It is a misconception because so many people say "This is MY right, now you have to respect that" while they fail to realize that the person they are talking to has the same rights as them.
This is why so many people think they are "right" when they protest to ban things that they deem are unacceptable or inappropriate. (Violent video games would be a good example here)
