Where is the "Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy" option at?
I picked Star Wars out of the 2 as it does not have some secret language to learn, and is only 6 movies as compared to how every many seasons there were of Star Trek... Also lightsabers, wookies, Xwings = FTFW.
Edit: On the other hand where would we be without our awesome facepalm.jpg's from Star Trek? I mean sure there are others, but those are some of the best.

Does this even need a poll? No really, Star Wars is the better one. Nobody can argue with that. I have never watched Star Trek because I couldn't get into it because it was boring.
GoodOneDriver, shut the fuck up.

Star Wars, in general, is the better-developed universe and has a lot more potential for expansion because most people can usually agree on what the canon consists of. Trek on the other hand has been known to change its lore in every single iteration, and was just 'blessed' with an entire separate continuity.
Wrath of Khan, however, single-handedly owns the hell out of any live action Star Wars production. If it were a poll asking whether WoK or Empire Strikes Back is the better movie, Khan would win hands down. With one hand behind its back, even. Blindfolded.
"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine
Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.

Star Wars. Although I'm looking into Star Trek because my friend is a fan of them.
Anyhow, like Chew said: "lightsabers, wookies, Xwings = FTFW"

ditto here! I just loved Star Trek and my favorite chars were Kirk and Spock. I really loved the Romulan alien race with their cool looking green spaceships.
As for Star Wars, I think it's a good story but err...this is my 10th year here in the US and I still don't feel like watching Star Wars!
And besides, Battlestar Galactica ramake by far is seriously the most awesome sci-fi show EVER imo!

You have no soul. It's pop culture. It's a 'must experience in life' type of thing. You don't have to like it or be addicted to it.. just watch it.
It's a movie, just like any other one. What makes simply watching either Star Wars or Star Trek any different from any other movie? You don't have to be a "geek" to enjoy it, nor lack a life. The only time the term "no life" applies is when it becomes a religion. (Owning action figures, comics, multiple DVD versions, being able to recite every line, ect.)
Simply bashing it for no reason just makes you look like an ignorant moron and only hurts the respect that people give you when they listen to your judgments.
