I noticed that during the day RenForums is randomly super effing slow.
Is there a problem with the server?
Happened both at school and home so it isn't my connection.

It seems to be a problem that's partially related to the backup process of FUDforums (it seems to close the database when dumping it) and partially related to an unidentified server problem.

I *think* I've figured out the problem, but in order to fix the database that is (probably) causing it, I can either have a long downtime (could be up to 8 hours) or slightly slower for a couple weeks while it fixes at a low priority. I went with the latter. I'm about 1/3rd of the way through the process.
If this doesn't work, I'm going to get a new server and move all the sites on the server over one at a time until I figure out which one is causing the problems.

How do you get a week out of 8 hours?
added: I to would be fine with just shutting it down and getting it fixed.

Funny you're saying this, as this is something that I've been thinking about for a while. Not necessarily a change of lay-out, but rather a 2nd choice of template.
However, I'm the coding type of guy, I'm not good with design. So I'd need to convince Wiener to work with me. And we'd need some help from Crimson as well. All in all a lot of if's, so don't count on it happening anytime soon. We're all very low on time, unfortunately.
I noticed the renforums speed problems are gone for the moment, for me.

OK, my maintenance on the server is more or less complete. We haven't had any load spikes in about 4 days. I have disabled the script that caused the frequent disconnects.
Here's hoping I've finally gotten this figured out!
