I now regret putting this patch on my computer as I use GMax. I can stand merging my saved files every time I wish to edit them anymore and I want to remove the patch. I'll use my Firewall to hopefully stop this "Worm" from attacking my computer.

Can I simply remove it, or is re-installing Windows the only option?

You have no idea how simple it really is.

Go into to add/remove programs and get rid of it like any other program.

Yeah as soon as you remove it Windows update will make you install it again. Just don't let it auto update it for you.

Install the windows patch. Remove Gmax. Delete C:\gmax, saving any of your work in a backup directory. Install Gmax Version 1.2 and register it. Go to control panel and click add/remove programs. Go to "the renegade mod tools" click remove. When your asked click "repair" and it will install RenX for you. You may need to download "Renegade ToolsInstaller2.exe" (20MB) from the Westwood FTP if it asks you for that file.

Yay! It worked. Smile I can now open files normally and save them with the Windows patch installed. No more merging. Very Happy

Oh wait, I have one problem. It now says...

"DLL <gamepacks\WestwoodRenX\plugins\gmax2w3d.dle> failed to initialize."

Ah screw it, it still f#cked up. I don't think I can be asked with GMax anymore until they fix this issue. I just loosed a file today that was just about finished because of this. I don't want to loose anymore files to this glitch.

I've tried that, but that never worked for me. Until I hear of a patch from discreet, this patch won't be on my system.

Plus, I have not had this worm because of my firewall, but I had a close call after disabling SECURITY for just 2 minutes!:shock::shock:

I tried the Windows in-built Firewall but it didn't stop it. Do you have to use a hardware one, or just a better software one?

I'm using a software firewall, and I think new versions of the worm are supposed to get past the XP Firewall.
