I feel left out though, I mean I pointed out he was beleived to have cheated (in two topics, within the space of two hours: First post, Mon 24 Aug, 2009 @ 19:11 and Second post, Mon 24 Aug, 2009 @ 20:54) and I don't get sued! 
I'm going to go and cry now.
(Obviously, as I am about to get sued, I need to make sure my claims are entirely valid, and back them up with evidence!!)

It depends on the case. If the person is really going very far, then an ip range ban can happen, or even an ISP wide ban.
We also since recently dispose of serial hashes, which are a hash of the game's serial. So we don't know your game serial but we can identify someone using the same serial hash, hence ban him on it. It's the most efficient way to ban someone, especially if you lock your server to xwis players only.

We do follow our own rules, it's just that this rule is new and wasn't instructed yet at the moment when I made my post. Moreover, one could say an ip address is not private information as you spit it out to anyone who asks for it.
