Ren Startup Problem (Seriously need a help!) [VISTA] [message #392459]

Hi guys,

So I have a little problem on my computer trying to get Renegade to work.

It all goes smooth during installation, and installing the patch via the EA Download Manager, until I try to actually launch the game it's self.

As soon as I click Ren icon on my desktop, it shows the little Ren screen before it launches the game (or asks you insert the Play disc) a few seconds later, BOOM!

"Renegade has stopped working and needs to close"

"Microsoft will notify you if a solution is available"

Something along those lines.

I've tried re-installing but it continues to happen.

I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium, running the game in administrator mode, and besides, I disabled UAC for this anyway.

My spec should be fine for this, dual core processor, 4850hd gfx card, enough RAM.

Any ideas?

oh and i'm only 32 bit.

Put that in your Renegade folder and then run that instead, that should work.

Actually, I just put in the folder "Renegade" under Westwood directory, tried clicking it from there and nothing happened at all, tried it in administrator mode and same again, nothing happened. So I rinsed and repeated in data folder, again leading to nowhere.

Thanks for helping anyway, anyone else got ideas? Or am I doing something wrong with the Launcher?

Just a hunch, but you should try renaming game.exe to game2.exe as the tool was written to work with RenGuard installed (and attempting to patch RenGuard at "random" places in memory doesn't make it happy Razz

Ok, finally, it works! Thanks alot guys, appreciate it Smile

Now, a fresh problem for you, since I love you so much...

Using the gamelauncher, renguard won't start up, which will cause me alot of problems in-game... you know how it is Sarcasm

Any ways around this?

If Renguard won't run on your system anyway (it's rather picky) you'll have to live with it, we can't do much for it.

Try any of the FAQ steps in the Renguard Client subforum if they apply to you.

Renguard is a wonderful initiative
