Boot problems [message #389160]

Right i recently re purchased renegade since my old copy was lost mind you it was years ago i last played and on a different comp.
I got a Sold out copy of the game and installed fine, patched from the disc and tried to launch the game. the boot screen pops up. (the red one that says the title of the game that you can see from the desktop.) this loads up and the cursors shows the loading gif. The boot screen disappears and nothing happens. I updated my drivers and still no go. I'm running on XP using a Nvidia 6600 GT. any ideas what i can do to fix it.

Try using the game.exe that u can find in the renegade dir. The boot screen is known to be bugged.

By the Dir. i'm assuming you mean the launcher inside the renegade file in my hard drive i.e. /c/westood file? tried that and still no go.

nope only items i have in the dir. is the internet registration, play online with gamespy, renegade, auto update, config, read me and the uninstaller.
wait i lie it went onto another dir. for some reason. but no still no crashdump.txt file checked in the data folder too

followed all the steps and still nothing... GRRR this is annoying... i really appreciate all the help and have sent a support message to EA hopefully they;ll be able to sort it out. at least i know where to get all the scripts from now.
This is really odd though i mean it doesn't even bring up an alert of say that the program is crashing it just fails to boot.

Aha! while i was loading up the game from the game.exe in the directory i noticed a game2.exe which is loading the game up. musn't of been installed with the core patches/scripts last time.
Yay! thanks a load anyway guys it's nice to know there are people who're willing to help out Very Happy

. i shall hope to see you on multiplayer assuming i don't have any hassles with that hehe.
