So I have a Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 1.66 GHz processor and 2 gigs of memory. And I have an ATI Radeon Xpress series video card, either 128mb or 256mb, not sure. Vista installed. I'd say this is good enough to play renegade on a decent level. However, I do not get more than 25 fps at any given moment, at a lot of times it even drops to below 15 fps.

Any ideas how to increase my fps? I have already tried shutting down all unneccesary processes.

We'd need a bit more info:
* how many players?
* more info on that video card: a 256 MB shared memory video card is useless, compared to any similar dedicated video card. This is most likely to be causing the problem as well
* what's the reaction time of your screen?

The amount of players barely makes a difference, when there's like 4 people I get 25 fps max, when there's 40 people I get 15 max.

I don't seem to able to find my vc specs lol...

you can also try hitting ` key and entering togg should come up with toggle_XXX enter it and it will raise you fps by like 20.

yeah the complete command is toggle_sorting, however, it won't be quite pleasant all the time

Already did lower it to below I can bear, hell my pic is horrendously deformed, and it is still slow as FUCK.
