Would u like to have an option for windowed mode without menu bar?[ 53 votes ]
1. Yes 10 / 19%
2. No 12 / 23%
3. I dont use windowed mode 31 / 58%

I know, saberhawk will kill me for that Wink

But a suggestion:

If it is possible (and it should be) and no big deal, patch the exe and remove the flag for the top-menu-bar in windowed mode from it as an option.

so one could decide, if one want the top bar to be shown or not.

I'm using a dual monitor desktop. In windowed mode its much faster to switch between the desktops, so i'm using it.

But the menu bar ingame is ugly and annoying. It breaks my game-feeling.

Just a small gray edge/frame would be enough!

It (the menu bar) is ugly and unecessary.

Removing it is fairly easy once you find the section related to registering the window class and the flags of it... finding that is hard.

Certainly not high priority.

So it will be a floating window without a bar to be able to close or minimize?

You could always right click its title/icon in the taskbar to close/minimize, and you could also close the game how it's supposed to be closed, through the main menu.

Besides, he's asking for it to be optional. You could still have the bar there yourself.

Optional means pain in the ass. Adding a features requires us to at the very least document it. For features like this, it also requires significant redesign of various portions of code and dialogs; simply put, it's not going to happen. If you want the full "in-game" feel, don't play in windowed mode.

Well, good luck coding the feature then, as SH or any other TT memeber won't do it.

Just play Renegade fullscreen on the same resolution as your desktop and use Alt-Tab to swap Thumbs Up
Should go fast enough when the resolutions are the same

Do I sound retarded?

Of course I'm playing Rem on the same resolution as my desktop (obvious with a TFT) and I use Alt/Tab.

But compare: in windowed mode (vista aero) i can switch within a single second to the second monitor and back. very stable, no crashes.

in fullscreen it takes ~ 5 seconds, until ur are fully back ingame.

and sometimes the game tends to crash during switch in fullscreen mode.

i know a lot of people who need to switch very often, because mods use irc ingame very often. or to use the TS window on the other screen.

You don't sound retarded but because you said it took so long i thought you ran it on a lower resolution.
Im playing on the same resolution+fullscreen and im back on desktop in ~1.5 second max Huh
I only had it take so long when my screen and game resolutions where different. (although renegade widescreen kinda sucks in the menus Razz )

As a temporary solution you could drag the renegade screen menu bar just outside your screen Razz
