I have been wondering this for a while, and would like anyone here with personal experience.
why are mac pc said to be better then windows? as in they are faster, they are easy, they dont freeze, they dont crash.
but why? how are they build to be better and why do others still prefer windows

They aren't built any better. In fact, they use the same internals as PC's. You can run the more recent Apple operating systems even on your PC.

Well, that's completely and utterly false. I had to work with Macs in a class in high school. They lagged, crashed, froze, etc. worse than any PC I've ever owned. Those people you know must not use their Macs for very long or for anything more intensive than web browsing. That said, I don't deny that Windows has its own issues.

I second this.
If you're just going to be using a Mac for web browsing and very basic editing programs, then they're okay. But, since Macs are usually more expensive than PCs, there's really no point in getting a Mac for those reasons when you can get a PC that does the same thing for cheaper.

I've never had a crash/freeze/etc on my PC that I haven't caused personally (accidently, of course). On the other hand, the few macs I have used have had memory leaks out the ass. Apple just preaches to the computer-users who don't know what they're doing, refuse to learn, and refuse to accept any responsibility for their problems.
Despite Apple's smear campaign, Windows-based systems still maintain a large majority of computer-users. They are the industry standard, and that's what I look for in an operating system. Not rounded edges, not a slick advertising campaign, but will it run what I need it to run. For Macs, the answer is usually no (Unless I dual-boot Windows LOL!), and for Windows the answer is almost always yes. I'm a little surprised there is even a discussion on it.

Well the reason I ask is cause I dont have nor ever used a mac, my sister has one and loves it and says never once has anything gone wrong with it and shes anti windows, im also thinking about buying one,
so when I go to collage I well know how to use windows,mac,linux so I can be ready for my degree and any other stuff that might be extra

This is probably a narrow minded view, but I tend to put Mac users in the following groups:
Soap dodging student who's been told that Mac runs Microsoft word, so is perfect for him/her to do there Uni work on and still create a website for there cat.
Middle-aged man who wants to look young, hip and trendy. Something to plug his I-pod into and pretend that I-life is awesome.
Someone who says they believe that mainstream is rubbish and wants to look different. A bit like people who do not actually know really why they use firefox, but are very happy to join an explorer v firefox debate and bash explorer without really knowing anything about either of them at all, being driven by nothing else really other then the fact they they believe they're cooler because they're part of the cool group who really know what they're doing.
Not that firefox isn't better, just most people do not know why.
These are the same people that when you ask them why they didn't just choose a linux distro instead, or perhaps Opera for the browser comparison they're equally incapable of giving any real answer.
Creative people that like to do 3D moddelling, use applications like photoshop, Maya or Music editting etc etc. Or people that do this for a living.

Wow you pretty much just summed all my thoughts... however I would include the "hip and trendy" thing with the students as well.

Even if every single thing that apple has said about how much better they're OS is compared to windows I still wouldn't get a mac based solely on the fact that their OS can only run about .1% of the things that windows can.

Don't trust the opinions of a bunch of forum goers who haven't even owned a mac. I use a Windows XP PC at home and when I'm at work, I use my MacBook Pro (which my last employer bought for me and let me keep when I was laid off). I find the MacBook Pro to be a far better computer to do programming on. Web surfing is identical on both thanks to Firefox, and I can do all my word processing and spreadsheets for my business on either one as well. I use either one interchangeably though there are some features like Expose on the Mac OS that I greatly prefer to Windows' alt-tab.
I'm not sure how it is today, but at the time that I got my MacBook Pro (about 3 years ago now), it came with bluetooth, a built-in camera and mic, pretty decent speakers, and extra USB plugs on both sides for versatility. At the time, it wasn't a "standard" feature for laptops to have 56k modems, 802.11b/g wireless, AND gigabit ethernet, and DVI output for an external monitor. If I had bought the "high-end" PC laptop at that time, it probably would have been missing one or more of those features without connecting an external PCMCIA card or dongle of some sort.
Because of that, my 3-year old laptop is still well-able to keep up with current software and still fulfills all my needs without yearning for an upgrade.
I won't pull any of that "it just works" stuff (although it's true!).
And, just to round out my technology, I also have a little Acer netbook that Blazer got for me and installed Windows 7 beta on. I use it when I'm at my store when I need to be super-portable but I need a bigger screen than my BlackBerry Bold allows. 
I'm the bawss.

Mac is good for modeling? I always thought Windows was better for that. (also thinking of plugins and stuff)
and I also think which OS is "better" is a matter of personal preferences.
Moding can be real Fun...
