Recently all of my fullscreen 3D applications started to minimize when you run them. If I try and restore the window, it restores and minimizes right away. I have not had any system changes aside from the few Windows Updates here and there, and was wondering if anyone else here has had the same problem.
The only two 3D applications I know this happens with are C&C 3: KW, and Renegade (the installer, can't keep it open).
I run dual monitors with Ultramon, and I have tried disabling Ultramon, as well as disconnecting my secondary monitor.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Did you install Skype 4 recently? If so, try turning it off. Also, General Discussion isn't really the right forum for support requests, try "Technical Support/Other" next time...

I did install Skype 4 actually, but turning it off was to no avail. I'm now getting in-page errors when trying to access Setup.exe from the Renegade disk, which seems odd. My system is normally very stable (Server 2008 x64 Enterprise), and its never crashed before, so this behavior is very odd.

DeadX07 wrote on Sat, 14 February 2009 03:36 | I don't read the entire forum. Anyways, I turned of Skype 4, and I also disabled Advanced Performance on my primary hard drive and all the problems have vanished.

"Advanced performance" really means "Enable buggy behavior" anyways and should never be turned on unless you are experiencing bugs in programs that rely on the buggy behavior.

I never looked into what the Advanced Performance feature did under the hood, but its good to know I should leave it off now. I had it enabled so I could squeeze some extra disk performance for compile/build times and other I/O intensive operations.
