If i read correctly, the original problem with it isn't what was hard coded into it, but it shows what can be done, which means someone could now know, or even could be in the middle of creating one that shows where the enemy players are, whether they're in a vehicle etc....and it will keep expanding.
I don't think anyone sees the version shown on youtube as a cheat.

Just drop the issue. We all (I should hope all) have seen this argument and similar about cheats. First it's building health bars, now it's full-screen radar. What next are we going to argue about? Who cares if he makes it? As he stated, he just did it to learn how. He has NO INTENTION of releasing this nor the source to the public.

oh yes. becauses there have been MANY MANY versions of are-gee-h and the like after that was released. Gimme a break. The people who know how to do this would have already done it OR are too lazy and don't give a shit about it. The people who think "OH THATS COOL IM GONNA TRY THAT " without knowing wtf they are doing wont be making it anyways

No offense to you or anyone else saying something similar, but I found this post funny. What you are basically saying is this:
"Even though this particular thing in question isn't being used as a cheat nor can it be used as a cheat, that doesn't stop other people from making their own completely different cheats."
You say it as if cheats didn't ever really exist in Renegade and this particular HUD/radar thingy gives people the ideas and incentive to make their own completely unrelated cheats from scratch.
Yes, we know, cheats are bad.
