I am creating a website to add all my stuff to, I have finished the design and got it on internet already. Only I want the downloads to have download counters.
I have been trying to add it for 10 hours already now but I can't get it to work :S Is there someone with PHP/website edit experience in here that could possibly help me with it?

You know a bit of mysql? Add a field called "counter", when someone hits the "download" button, redirect him to a download page which checks what the field value is for that download at this moment, you set the variable + 1 and insert the new value in the field. Then you auto redirect to the real download page.

I don't really know much about SQL yet, here is a screenshot of when I got to my control panel and then click MySQL.

Then I created MySQL User

Then I got this screen. But I honestly don't know what to put there Sad

For the record, his website is coded in HTML and Frontpage. thus it has no PHP interaction at all. Smile

I have wasted my whole day yesterday trying to get the downloadcounter to work, without succes Sad

I found a good .PHP tool for the download counting now tho Smile

Also GrimmNL helped me a explaining stuff, thank you.

But I am the only one that can see it, because if you want to view it you have to enter a password ^

I just want it displayed on my website like it does here, and gamemaps. Only it seems impossible since I can't find it anywhere on GOOGLE Satisfied

Here you see the screenshot, when I give more files a downloadcounter there will be just 1 list, which is also cool ofcourse, but that might be the best I could get Dont Get It

If all you need/want are downloads, try out paFailDB. It's very easy to setup. Not quite as easy to skin yourself - then again, this coming from someone who is design-challenged. *me* Razz

I actually recoded paFailDB to use phpBB3's template system. Not that hard actually. I even made it use phpBB3's database structure(after failing for trying to get phpBB3 to read from two databases Sad
