I have my PS3 for about 6 months now. I never had any problems so far. The only "problem" I've encountered was a game crash, but this only happened once.
There is only one small problem at my place when using it's WiFi function. As soon as I connect to the internet on my PS3, another computer disconnects from the internet, but this is only a small problem since it reconnects after several seconds.
The games run very nice. The PS3 installs a part of the game to it's HDD so you can update/patch the games. It will also shorten the loading time.
As far as I have noticed, the PS3 graphics are slightly better than the XBOX360 graphics. Even on a normal analog television, it looks like you're playing on HD.
The Playstation One games play fine too, since they created a system which will smooth out the graphics and display them a bit nicer on the screen.
The blu-ray drive is very good. It plays every DVD copy, CD copy, Blu-ray, AVCHD etc. The PS3 is like a mediacenter.
If you want to buy a PS3 system...It's worth the money.

Sounds like the PS3 and the computer are both trying to use the same IP address. If your using DHCP you might want to increase the range of IP's the router can give out. Alternativly set static IP's (my preferred method for home networks) to ensure they are all unique. Also has the advantage of enabling you to forward ports to any machine on the network quickly and easily.
As for the PS3 itself, I intend to buy one eventually, if only to play FFXIII when it's released. Hopefully the price will have dropped by then too... and if they release a model with the PS2 backwards compatibility restored (heck, I would even pay a premium on the price for a model with it included) that would be even better. Unfortunatly Sony seem to have decided that you should have both a PS2 and a PS3 these days, rather than having one which can do both.

Well...I have the 40GB version. It doesn't support PS2 playback, but I still have a PS2 system at home, so no problem for me. Though I heard that the 80GB PS3 system, which has been released a few months ago, supports PS2 playback again.

In the Netherlands the price is about €400 (that's about $530).
This will most likely give you:
- Playstation 3 System
- PS3 controller
- 2 games
- Required cables, HDMI not included.
(I don't know if it's the same in USA, but this is what we get in the Netherlands)

So the PS3 can play the original PSX games?
Im thinking of getting either a Wii or PS3 sometime. But probably PS3 for FFXIII.

Another thing...
PS3 allows you to install an alternative OS. It supports Blu-Ray discs and can be converted into a Home Media Server. As already stated, multiplayer is free, so are all other online features (except for buying full games).
Also PS3 didn't have any problems yet. As for XBOX360...A guy at my school bought a new xbox360 and in 3 days time, he had to send it back to microsoft due to a RROD.
I suggest you read this: http://www.squidoo.com/ps3vsxbox360

PSN: Terminator101
Games: Battlefield BC, Resistance 1 & 2, GTA4, (coming soon) Killzone.
XBL: Terminator101sk
Games: Left4Dead, Halo 3, Saints Row 2.
I don't really care what console the game is on, but if I did not have to buy Xbox to play some of the games I have, I wouldn't.

One of the reasons why I didn't buy an Xbox is this:
Most games like Halo, GoW, Fable etc. will be released on pc anyways. They are owned by windows so they want to earn money twice. 1 from xbox sales, 2 from pc sales.
Some reasons why I bought a PS3:
- Better graphic quality (PS3 slightly stronger)
- Shorter loading times
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- My uncle has one
- I wanted to be able to playback blu-ray discs
- I don't have the ability to set up a wired network, so the wireless function is a big advantage for me
- I heard a lot of complains on the RROD (sometimes people got it the first day they bought it)
- PS3 matches my plasma television.

- Huh, The Xbox360's GPU is 'stronger' then the GPU of the PS3, so you first point is incorrect.
Sony claimed that the PS3 had a better GPU then the 360, but since the release of the PS3, experts have reviewed both GPUs, and out of most of the results (Neutral websites/experts --> no fanboyism), it shows the 360 has a stronger GPU in most aspects, and theoretically, can show better graphics on your screen, then the GPU of the PS3.
- Xbox 360 supports wireless networking too, although pricey (Internet) --> http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessnetadapter/default.htm
- There might have been complaints about the RROD, but Microsoft covers 3 year warranty for the RROD, and has a great Customer Support Service imo.
- PS3 matches your TV? I presume its black --> Microsoft has a solution to that, the Xbox360 Elite! but this is just an option ofcourse.

Why does each comparison test prove that PS3 games show better graphics than XBOX360?
