Alright.
So i just bought a new 22inch samsung t220. Looks awesome, great design, everything positive. My "old" one was a 19inch, no problems. Native resolution of 1280x1024.
I have an ati radeon x1300 256mb pci-e video card.
This card has dvi, vga, and s-video outputs on it.
The native resolution for the new monitor is 1680x1050 ( Which is what i want to run it at )
The monitor has dvi, and vga inputs
If i use a DVI connection (preffered due to physical setup) and try to run it at the native resolution of 1680x1050, i get a lot of flickers and mostly complete blackouts. Randomly, and time intervals ranging fro a 3 second blackout to a whole 10 seconds.
If i lower the resolution to something like 1280x1024, it runs great ( looks like shit mind you )
If i use my vga connection at 1680x1050, the monitor runs great. No problems.
Ive tried multiple dvi cables. I don't have access to another PC with dvi. Ati drivers/catalyst has been fully updated.
I would preffer to use dvi for my monitor, as i was using my vga for my tv.
Possible problems narrowed down to:
1) Glitch/Problem with the monitor in dvi mode
2) Video card can't support that resolution output through dvi
Options i have are:
1) Return the monitor and try and swap to get a different one
2) Use vga for my monitor, and get a dvi-to-vga output for my tv ( or use my laptop )
3) Return the monitor and get my money back and go back to my current setup
== Also I plan on building a new, much more powerful desktop a few months from now, so purchasing a new card/system isn't an option.
Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated.
I bought the monitor today ( on boxing day ) and most likely can't return or swap for another day or two. I have 30days to get my money back if necessary.
