So ive just installed Win7 and I was wondering if anyone else has and if so what do you make of it? How would you compare it to XP and then how would you compare it to Vista?

From what I have seen and read, I can say the following:
- I am displeased with the new shell
- I am displeased with the new taskbar
- They are trying to make simple things more complex (wordpad for example)
I'll stick with Server '08 for now.

Windows 7 is version (Major) 7. Vista=6, XP=5.
Versioning=Major.Minor.Build.Revision.

3.1 (base), 95 (build differentiation), 98 (build differentiation), = Major 3
2000 (base), ME (build differentiation), NT (build differentiation) = Major 4

I'm probably off a bit, but still. The creator of that site isn't one to question the developers making Windows. They have every right to version it how they want to. 
The reason some will probably say its not justifyble to be a major release change is that its meant to be more of an upgrade in a sense that Microsoft is targeting Windows 7 at being fully compatible with previous drivers from Vista (among many other reasons). What you won't here about on the public side of things from ordinary people is about the deep details of Microsoft Cloud Services which is designed to bring an entirely new user experience. I'm sure Microsoft has a few other things up their sleeve at this point, but I won't go into my personal opinions in that aspect.

I've been buying MSFT for a while, and I'm looking forward to Windows 7's release. The fact that it can run very efficiently on 1GB of RAM, and a 1GHz processor (aka VIA powered netbook) warms the cockles of my heart. It means that Microsoft is indeed listening to their customers, and that they are taking the competition seriously, now, so we'll all win.

Haven't downloaded it yet. Once I finished my Linux course ile take a look at the new Microsoft stuff.
I must say, I haven't really used Vista as main OS. Just in virtual machine. And I noticed the huge memory/resource hog it was. It didn't even make it to one of my desktops.
So far Windows 7 looks alot more promising then Windows Vista.
One thing: Windows 7 and Intel Core I7 concidence

I will not upgrade unless:
A. There is a minimum of obnoxious hand-holding in both the OS and its associated applications, or at least a simple, intuitive way to disable the hand-holding 'features' completely.
B. The system requirements are reasonable.
C. The DRM is no more obnoxious than XP's before WGAN appeared.
D. There is a minimum of latency in performing basic tasks such as opening folders, copying files, and deleting files.
E. I do not have to click through umpteen warnings and notifications to install a program or change a setting.
F. There is built-in support for at the minimum applications dating to Win2k.
I very much doubt I will be upgrading again, ever.

A) Ive read that this will be possible
B) Requirements so far seem better then vista.
C) Not too sure on that
D) Things seem to open instantaneously, copying files from drive to drive seems to be as quick as XP.
E) Refer to A)
F) Can't comment on
Edit:
While opening files and copying seems to be alright, its taken me 10mins to install MSN Live. I dont know whether thats normal since I use 7.5 normally but its has taken quite a long time to install.
