Right, so this programme was recorded first, so it wasn't live, so really it shouldn't have aired.
But what i find most interesting is that there were only a few complaints at first, yet when more people heard about it they rang in and complained....who's betting that most of them hadn't actually seen the show, but heard the news about it either from telly or from a friend or something.
What do we all think about this sorta thing? Has it been blown out of proportion due to people sheepishly complaining about it?
I think it has, although i think they are complete idiots for actually doing it. If the BBC had any sense about the 'incident' it would not have been broadcast, and the situation could have been pretty much contained...although, this kinda thing woulda leaked out anyway, it certainly wouldn't have been so big.

If it aired or not is irrelevant really, the calls were still made and the messages left, not airing it would not change that fact. Sure, they might not have been publically flogged over it, but regardless they shouldn't have done it, and deserve everything they get.
Never like that Russell Brand anyway, he always comes across as some kind of mentally challenged ape to me.

Didn't like either of them. I'm hoping they get in lots of trouble.
Edit: OK, I'll add something to the discussion.
I can't believe they did it (my mother and I have a bet running aginst our father that they were on something when they did) and that the BBC actually aired it.
I think some sort of serious review of the way in which the BBC review programmes before broadcast is needed.

It's not irrelevant that they aired it, as it has shown that whoever allowed it to be aired is a complete idiot, as what they should have done is either:
Edit out the phone calls made, or simply not broadcast it altogether, although i'm sure it isn't as simple as that.
I agree though, that they shouldn't have done it...right bunch of twats should be banned from broadcasting...

You guys are proving my point that Britain really is getting dumber by the second.
Big fucking deal, If half of Britain was offended by a joke then you seriously need to check yourselves.
Also Johnathan Ross is old school, only TV chat show I like (apart from Late night with Conan, of course), Couldn't give a fuck about Russell.
Still though, , big deal, anyone? just a joke? you still make a fuss about it? get over it and move along.
Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

I'm all for pushing boundaries.
Phoning an old man and making rude, lewd, personal comments about his granddaughter is not funny, it's rude.
(BTW, I didn't hear the show, so I didn't complain. You are right, people who didn't hear it shouldn't complain)

I agree.
Like i said though, only a few people complained initially but this quickly snow-balled as people jumped on the band-wagon.
Even so, they are still idiots for doing it.
