[sg]theOne - We might have to agree to disagree, but I need to clarify a couple of things. Last thing I want is for this to turn into a pissing contest.
Firstly you answered your own question: It's for the moderators to decide, and clearly they have decided against a filter. That's fine by me, I just wanted to voice out an opinion rather than follow the herd in thinking it's cool and clever to abuse the privilege to be allowed uncensored "speech".
Maybe you should re-read paragraph 2. I know these forums are hosted by a fansite, but they ARE the official (i.e. sanctioned) ones and therefore IMHO have an obligation to maintain at least some standards.
"Who here is encouraging kids to swear ?" Encouragement does not only mean "hey come on kids, swear, it's OK". Simply reading is encouragement enough for some. Let alone gratuitous & irrelvant swearing for the sake of it.
I'm with you about this being Crimson's site, where she can do as she pleases - all I wanted to say was "please reconsider".
Cheers.

An enlightened mind does not require profanity to convey a message.
Thus all the swearing in this forum.

Squiddley | Well, I'm waving a red flag in front of a bull now, but here goes...
I would like to see more "vulgar" swearing censored for a number of reasons. I think this thread has already exhibited ABUSE of the lack of a filter. I swear as much as the next person, but NOT in a message board. I have no problem with hearing or reading swearing when it's appropriate.
Now these boards are the official home of the Renegade forums, which has been sanctioned by Westwood. Seeing as the game has a rating, the boards should reflect that rating. Although such rating is only relevant (legally) in the USA (I believe), the spirit of any rating should be reflected in the official "home" for the boards.
I'm not a prude, far from it, but I honestly think that many parents would not be happy if their younger kids saw this much profanity. As a parent, uncle and godfather, I know young kids swear, but I'm disappointed to see it being actively encouraged in here.I'm nobody, but a supporter of the game and the community, and frankly I'm disappointed.
Please reconsider the lack of a filter.
Thanks.

This is the fuck thread, swearing is encouraged in this thread. If you're not old enough, or mature enough to handle it, than don't read this thread, it's as simple as that. We don't need the censors atm, the lack of censors is not being abused at all! (note: if swearing is allowed and encouraged in a single thread, and it's being used alot in just that thread (and almost nowhere else on the board), than it's not being abused at all.)

ahh no censorship. personally i find it annoying that people who are parents want to complain that there children might see cursing. umm if you hadn't checked the box it has a TEEN rating so kids shouldn't be playing. so to hell with anyone who wants censorship.
D1:"are you suggesting coconuts migrate?"
A:"not at all, they could be carried."
D1:"what, a swallow carrying a coconut?"
A:"it could grip it by the husk."
D1:"its not a question of where it grips it, its a simple question of weight ratios. a five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.!"

What does MoG mean?
I'd think those old enough to be a teenager or older (>13) would have already heard much more than the swear words contained in this thread. From their parents, friends, TV, Et Cetera. I could see trying to censor for little kids (<12), but for those who have already learned nearly every word in the book?

"Well I have 3 boys, one is 2, the other is 5, and the other is 10 and a half. I just was appalled one day when I was watching my kids play this game! Promoting the killing of innocent people and policemen is horrible. This game and all others like it should be banned."

Did someone actually say that? She must have been really high and thought that she could get that game her children because all of thier ages put together equaled 17 (10+5+2=17). But seriously, she had to rent/buy that game for them and if the name, Grand Theft Auto 3 isn't enough to tell her that it's about stealing cars and crime, the lable that said "ages 17+" should have been enough to tell her that it's not for 10-year-olds. The 5-year-old probably isn't smart enough to even know that the buttons on the controller even effect what is on the screen. Bad, bad lier and parent, she is.

lol... Stupid people these days... Trying to ban video games because of bad parents...
Video games are just scapegoats. They're among one of the first things to be blamed for anything.

Games I feel are beginning to ACTUALLY become neccesary for today's youth. Think about this for a second. What to most suburban kids have at least one of. A Gaming system. What DON'T poor inner-city kids have? A Gaming System. Which of those two is more likely to take their .45 into the street and join a gang?
Also, think about this. In times much earlier. I'm talking like Pre 1800's. Children used to go out with friends, and hunt! OH NO PETA! LITTLE KIDS USED TO GO OUT AND KILL ANIMALS FOR FUN! That was their release. Later on boxing was big. That was their release. It was violent but not Illegal. No one tried to kill another in Boxing, it was a gentlemen's sport. Later still around the 70's, when kids were young. They used to play games like Kill the Carrier, Sniper, and Dodgeball. Those sort of games again have that violent aspect while having no bearing on killing anyone. (Despite the precarious name of Kill the Carrier ) But you never wanted to kill another human in those games, just get the ball from them or knock them down. Now Games come into the picture. I know, growing up with video gaming, that kids aren't going out and playing Kill the Carrier or any of those type of games. Our schools have all but outlawed Dodge ball because of people saying it is teaching violence in schools. Kids don't box, because where would they start? Boxing has been out for quite a while among young people. Finally do they hunt? Rarely and only if their parent's or someone they know goes, because you can't just walk out your back door into a forest and bag a deer. There are only small areas to hunt in, you need a liscence, and with development, there just aren't as many animals around anymore.
Now what the hell does this big long boring history of children I have written mean to you? Well think of this. When people talk about stress they say "The worst thing to do is bottle it up". Now our children if they don't play some violent games, have no outlet. Human's naturally have some violence in them and it is more aparant in some than others. They will keep bottling it up until it starts affecting them. You may not see it until it's too late but usually when something big happens it has been building for a long time.
That's my 32$.
