i currently have a P4 2.0 and it is fast but not as fast as i want it to be .

if i were to buy a AMD Athlon� XP Processor 2700+ at $137 . would that mean it is 2.7 and would be faster than my intel ? ... also would it be a pain in the ass to switch proccesors on a computer motherboard ?
