Renegade's files should be loaded into LE by default. To edit stuff, just go to the presets tab, then find what you want. Stuff is somewhat oddly named, but make sense at the same time. Soldiers are found under objects>Soldier or the like, if I recall.
Just search around until you find stuff. The best way to find out is to just mess with stuff. Note that it won't fuck up your Renegade.
To actually export your mod (To show up in multiplayer LAN list) as a .pkg (Extra steps need to be taken for .mix), just press the export option.
I reccomend going to renhelp.net. Lots of good tutorials there.
