Right, even though this thread is primarily targetted at in-game moderators of sniper only servers, regular players may also find it useful.
It's a small edit of the strings.tdb file to change the character display names of the black hand infantry, so they are easier to distinguish if you suspect someone is playing as the wrong character.
Normally, you'd see all black hand names appear as "Black Hand" on every screen. I've made a small edit so they are named in more detail. Changes will be made to the in-game HUD, purchase screens and the "J" statistics screen.

The sniper and laser chain gunner (LCG)
Unfortunately, these characters both share the same string, so individual names for them is not possible. So they've been labelled as seen below.
 instead of 
Stealth Black Hand
Will now display the characters full name.

This has helped me plenty of times whilst i've been moderating.
I hope that it will help many of you guys, too.
Note: Aircraftkiller recently mentioned to me that this would conflict with some of his newer maps that have repairbay/conyard attack warnings. Therefore, i've taken action to prevent any such conflict.

Version 2 released, compatible with the recent strings file packaged with Aircraftkillers C&C_Mars map. Just replace the existing one in your Renegade\Data directory.
