Can't Install Renegade on Vista [message #341045]

Intel P4 3.6GHz
1GB Ram
Radeon X800 XT
Windows Vista Ultimate

I can't install on Vista.

I'm on the screen where is says "Setup will install Renegade icons to the folder below" which by default is "Westwood". I click next and here is what I get:

I try to type another name or even leave it blank and it gives me the same error. I installed this version/cd fine on XP but I upgraded and now it doesn't install on Vista. I also tried to do the compatibility mode on the setup.exe but no luck. Any ideas?

Are you running it in Admin mode? (Non-admins do not have the rights to create folders on C:\)

I tried running as Admin, or how do I do it in Admin mode?

Right click on the Setup.exe on the disc and click properties.

On the Properties dialog box, go to the "Compatability" tab and then check "Run as administrator", click OK, then try running Setup.exe.

Oh yes, tried that. But I found a solution similar to what you were saying.

I opened the Command Prompt and ran it as an admin. I then typed this in:

net user administrator /active:yes

and logged out to see an Admin account and viola. Thanks Carrier!
